Act Now! Space Is Limited!

Your kids are getting ready to get out of school and you’re finding yourself asking the question, “What am I going to do with them this summer?” Well look no further, TidewaterParent.com has found the coolest Summer Camp in Hampton Roads. Mad Science is offering Summer Camps with multiple locations and themes, aimed to excite both boys and girls this season! If you are the parent of a rising first through sixth grade student, keep reading and know that your kids will have so much fun that they’ll forget they’re learning!

Camp5

Mad Science offers both half ($150/wk) and full day ($275/wk) camps throughout the summer beginning June 22nd and running weekly through mid August! Click here for a Full Schedule of camp dates and themes. All camps are held indoors, so no need to worry about cancellation due to extreme heat or rain!

Camp3

Multiple locations in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Norfolk make your commute to camp a breeze, unlike many other camps in our area. For half day camps you can choose which schedule works best for you, either 9am-12pm or 1pm-4pm. You can even choose to enroll your child in two different camps in the same week by taking advantage of both their morning and afternoon half day schedules! The full day camp hours are 9am-4pm and allow for maximum immersion in the theme of your choice!

Camp1

If you think a science summer camp might be boring for your kids, think again! Depending on the camp, your kids could be participating in the Slime Olympics, launching catapults, or making their own light sticks a la Star Wars! Let your children go wild with Mad Science and not in your kitchen. Trust me – you’ll be thanking them later!

Campers will overcome a series of challenges using basic materials, simple machines, tips from famous inventors and the most important of all – their mind! With a little ingenuity, children will create catapults and forts, construct working light sticks to take home, and assemble a set of circuits with batteries and light bulbs. While Thomas Edison said “Invention is 10% inspiration, and 90% perspiration,” this camp is 100% FUN! (grades 1-6)

Explore five of the coolest branches of science on your way to becoming a certified Jr. Mad Scientist! Discover how birds fly and learn what an owl eats as we dissect owl pellets in Bird Biology; build towering structures and ingenious contraptions via Engineering; go crazy while you construct catapults, pulleys and levers in Machine Mania; stir-up a crazy concoction that becomes sidewalk chalk and create a chromatography t-shirt in Crazy Chemistry; then do a double-take as you learn how optics really work in Lights and Sights! (grades 1-6)
