Too much candy? Local dentist offices exchange toys for treats to promote dental health and troops overseas

candy-apA chain of local dental offices is offering a chance for families to swap Halloween candy for toys.

Kool Smiles will collect Halloween candy for its “Operation Troop Treats” program. They send candy and dental kits to U.S. troops serving overseas who can’t celebrate with their families.

From Oct. 28 to Nov. 5, children can bring candy to any of the six local Kool Smiles offices, in exchange for a toy. For every 25 pieces of unopened candy in its original packaging, they will receive one toy. Each child can receive up to three toys, and they are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Kool Smiles will send the care packages to U.S. service members overseas via Operation Gratitude.
