Spring Break cooking camp in Chesapeake draws kids from ages 6-18

Now You’re Cooking Culinary Studio is offering a weeklong activity during the break for the junior Julia Child or emerging Emeril Lagasse in the family.

Spring Break Cooking Camp will be offered Monday, April 10 through Friday, April 14 from 9 a.m. until noon at the studio’s kitchen classroom.

There are two age groups for the camp, said chef/owner Dedra Blount: ages 6-11 and ages 12-18.

“Kids will learn knife skills and cooking techniques like saute, stir-fry, pasta making and more,” Blount said.

An early bird special of $200 for all five days of instruction ends March 15; after that the cost increases to $250.

Throughout the year, both children and adult classes are offered. Classes have samples and tastings throughout the events and are offered by Blount, a former Johnson & Wales University instructor, and her sister, Debra Brabson.
