Student art show winner made chair to honor woman who helped Jews during Holocaust

Ian Edwards got the top prize in the 2017 Hampton Roads Student Gallery, an art show for high school juniors and seniors from public and private schools in the region.

With the win came a $500 prize and an opportunity to see his work on display at the Chrysler Museum of Art through Feb. 26.

“It’s an honor to say my piece (is) there,” said Edwards, who is a woodworker and a senior at Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School in Virginia Beach. “My grandfather was a woodworker. (When) he died, I inherited all his tools.”
