Montessori Academy of Virginia

1468 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake, VA 23320

The Montessori Academy of Virginia was founded in 1997 with the goal of becoming a premier Montessori school. We put children and education first in all of our endeavors. The Montessori Academy of Virginia provides a quality learning experience which is evident within our classrooms and throughout the entire facility.

To enable us to reach our goals of high academic excellence,we have transformed the learning environment to suit the needs of children. To achieve this effort, we have developed two 10,000 square ft, state-of-the-art facilities situated on one acre lots, both in Virginia Beach and in Chesapeake, with easy access to major interstates. Our schools include spacious classrooms with private bathrooms, child friendly libraries, cozy art nooks, gymnasiums, large lunchrooms and garden areas for each child to plant and explore nature to its fullest. This innovative design of our schools and grounds has  been developed in detail by skilled architects to reflect our vision and Montessori knowledge, which will enhance all areas of your child’s Montessori educational experience.

We are ardent supporters of traditional Montessori philosophy (you can read more about Montessori here) and our staff is selected in part due to their quality training and experiences acquired through effective and meaningful Montessori programs.

In addition to focusing on education and development, we emphasize safety for the children. For example, we utilize a state-of-the-art security system that includes password protected keypad entry into the building, as well as an automated check-in and check-out system.

The faculty at The Montessori Academy consists of multi-cultural, professionally-trained educators, who have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, as well as their Montessori certification of either AMI/AMS, and are Virginia State licensed. They are dedicated, not only to the education of their students, but to the full development of the child-seeking tirelessly to gain the interest of each child and helping to unfold their  individual personalities. Our program is committed to standards of excellence in the quality of the curriculum, in the nature of staff interactions with students and in the overall aesthetic and social environment.

We the staff at the Montessori Academy of Virginia invite you to join us in this special partnership of community and education of your child.
